Guest Designer Spotlight, Trotter Bridal

We've heard we are all having a  hot girl summer, but here at Always we have also agreed that we are having a hot trunk show summer.

Being a bridal shop that hosts exclusively Canadian designers, we get the honour and privilege of hosting up and coming designers to our racks.

We want you to meet Jessica from Trotter Bridal. "

Trotter Bridal is a Kingston-based bridalwear atelier specializing in high-end wedding gowns that fuse classic elegance with dark vintage romance. Known for its signature custom devoré detailing, the brand focuses on creating heirloom-quality gowns that tell each bride’s personal story. All gowns are designed and made in Canada, offering both custom and semi-custom options in sable black or ivory white."

"The VELOURÉ 2026 collection embodies classic elegance reimagined through the lens of dark vintage romance. Each gown is meticulously crafted in silk-viscose velvet and charmeuse, materials chosen for their sumptuous drape and luminous depth."

The Eloise Gown

Just like our resident designers, there is one major perk from purchasing from Canadian bridal designers is that the customizations are endless. Need to change the neckline? Raise the backline? Add sleeves? All of these are possible and more!

Trotter takes it one step further by offering bespoke hand-drawn illustrations able woven into the grown. Her two most popular designs of "gothic ruins" and "in the garden" are available, but she also offers illustrations from scratch.

What drew us to Trotter Bridal was their seamless integration of black wedding dresses into their collection.  Trotter Bridal blends modern wedding dress fashion with gothic lore which turns into the perfect wedding dress for an alternative birde.

"[Jessica] draws inspiration from the moody imagery of folklore, darker vintage aesthetics, the intricate patterns of William Morris prints, and the timeless allure of antique treasures. These influences combine with her appreciation for traditional fashion techniques to create designs that are both timeless and contemporary.

As a designer, Jessica is committed to restoring a sense of connection between individuals and their garments. Her work focuses on high-quality fabrics, classic silhouettes, and forward-thinking concepts, resulting in pieces that celebrate artistry, craftsmanship, and originality while reimagining elegance for the modern bride."
