If you have OUMA wedding dresses saved all over your Pinterest board, this is your sign. From November 20–29, 2026, the full OUMA Alluvia Collection is coming to Ottawa for an exclusive trunk show at Always Knew I Needed.

And this one is a BIG deal for us because Always Knew I Needed is the exclusive Ontario stockist of OUMA. So if you have been searching for OUMA wedding dresses in Ontario, trying to figure out where you can actually try OUMA gowns on in person, or debating a little bridal road trip to find one.. hi. Welcome. You found us.

What is a trunk show?

We recently wrote a whole blog of the pros and cons of a trunk show, but in summary: trunk show is a designer-exclusive event where a boutique receives the newest collection of gowns directly from the designer. These gowns aren’t typically part of the everyday boutique lineup. Instead, they arrive for a limited time, often just for a handful of days, before returning to the designer.

For you, our Brides, it’s a rare opportunity to step to try on gowns that you normally wouldn't find in our day-to-day inventory.

At Always Knew I Needed, trunk shows are treated like any other day, with a few caveats. Your appointment still includes a private suite, a dedicated stylist, and time to savor the process but with the rare addition of gowns that would otherwise only be available in a designer’s showroom.

Because these events are limited and in high demand, we recommend booking early and arriving ready to fall in love. When your dream gown makes its appearance during a trunk show, it may not be available to try again for months..or possibly ever. The trunk show also acts as a first glimpse for us as the boutique to decide what we want to have as part of our year-round collection.

Canadian Wedding Dress Designer, Ouma

OUMA is a Canadian bridal designer based in Vancouver, creating some of the most interesting modern wedding dresses coming out of Canada right now.

Designer Ou Ma's work is less “traditional wedding dress with a little twist” and more actual wearable art. Think sculptural silhouettes, incredible textures, unexpected draping, separates, dramatic volume and gowns that somehow manage to feel fashion-forward without feeling like they're trying too hard.

We recently did a whole deep dive on her past, present, and future of wedding gowns.

OUMA describes the brand as an avant-garde expression of modern romance, with its gowns, separates and accessories designed in its Vancouver atelier. Sustainability is also built into the design process, including limited production runs, thoughtful pattern placement and repurposing fabric off-cuts wherever possible.

In short, if you find yourself trying on virtually the same wedding dress over and over again, it’s time to checkout Ouma.

Meet the Collection, Alluvia

OUMA's Alluvia Collection was inspired by the Danxia landscapes of China, known for their incredible layers of red, orange, clay and sand-coloured rock shaped over time by wind and water.Rather than taking that inspiration super literally, OUMA translated the idea of those layers and movement into the fabric itself.

In this collection you’ll find a heavy focus on soft and romantic fabrics. You’ll see organza that’s sculpted, pleats in layers, and draping that moves almost like water.

Ouma has found the highly sought after mix of soft whimsy while still being incredibly architectural

Owner of Always Knew I Needed, Abby, on location at The Loft Studio

We had the rare opportunity to collaborate on a styled shoot in June of 2026 with the Alluvia collection, right after it debuted at New York Fashion Week.

We'll take you through some of our favourites that we got to experience in real life, then give you the lowdown about the others. You can find all the gowns coming to the trunk show, here

June 2026 Ouma Atelier Styled Shoot

"A study in soft architecture and restraint, where bridal fashion is placed within a painterly world of textured fabrics, and florals treated as gestures rather than arrangements."

Aurelia

Aurelia gives you one of our favourite bridal trends right now, a sculpted basque waist. The straight neckline, ruched straps and pleated satin make it feel beautifully clean from far away, but the details get better the closer you look.

She has a matching veil cap that can't be put into words

Seren

Seren is the showstopper of this collection! She has a structured dropped-waist silhouette with a straight twisted neckline and detachable puff sleeves. If you love the dropped-waist wedding dress trend but still want something soft and romantic, this one is VERY worth trying.

Yun

And finally, Yun is the fun one.  "Yun drifts between form and function. Crafted in textured organza, its sculptural folds create volume that can be worn as an oversized cape layered over a simple silhouette, or as a mini dress with elongated straps trailing into a soft train. Airy yet intentional, it captures movement in its most fluid state

Most commonly asked questions

Where can I try OUMA Wedding Dresses in Ontario?

Right here in Ottawa! Always Knew I Needed is proud to be OUMA's exclusive stockist in Ontario, which means you don't have to head to Vancouver to experience OUMA bridal in person. Our boutique is located at 1800 Carling Avenue in Ottawa, Ontario, and we regularly welcome brides travelling from Toronto, Kingston, Montreal, Gatineau and across Ontario to shop our Canadian designer collection.

We already carry a curated selection of OUMA wedding gowns at Always, but the trunk show is especially exciting because it gives Ontario brides the opportunity to experience the Alluvia Collection together in one place for a limited time.

So yes, Toronto brides: we are absolutely encouraging the bridal road trip.

Is a trunk show appointment like a regular appointment?

Always was created specifically for this kind of wedding dress shopping. We exclusively carry Canadian wedding dress designers, and our appointments are private, relaxed and intentionally longer so that trying on wedding dresses doesn't feel like you're being shuffled through a bridal assembly line. Your trunk show appointment functions just like any of our other appointment

During the trunk show, you get your private fitting room all to your self during an appointment, your stylist is dedicated to you, and you have time to actually PLAY.

You can add the cape, take off the skirt, try the mini, put the sleeves on, wrap the scarf differently. We're here for all of it!!! The only difference is the gowns are with us for a limited time.

What is the Ouma Price Point?

The Alluvia collection from Ouma ranges between $4500-$7500 CAD.

What sizes are available at the trunk show?

This is where a trunk show will differ from our regular stock!

We believe every Bride & Nearlywed deserves the full experience of trying on their Pinterest-worthy dress, so we’ve gone the extra mile to stock two of EVERY gown, straight & plus size. Every gown you find on our page will be available in a straight size range (8-12) and a plus size range (18-24). Whereas at trunks hows, we do not decide the size that is sent to us! We usually find that designers will send a range of Bridal 6 - Bridal 12. If you have a questions about a specific gown and the size, don’t hesitate to reach out to us directly and we will get the information for you (613) 799-9348\

What should I bring to my trunk show appointment?

Please bring up to six of your trusted guests along with nude seamless underwear, a claw clip/hair tie, a water bottle, and all the good energy!

How many dresses can I try on during my trunk show appointment?

Babe, there is no set amount! Those two hours are your time to do what you would like! Want to float in your fave for 120 minutes? Let us prance with you. Do you want to try on as many as humanly possible? LIKE SURE. Not recommended, but we are here FOR YOU.

You are also welcome to try on gowns form our inventory that aren’t part of the event!

Can I take photos of the gowns?

yes! & we love role playing "professional hype woman photographer" don't be shy to ask us to help you snap a few pictures
